New Growth in New York City: Just as new growth forests, also known as secondary forests, emerge in areas where original forests have been cleared or disturbed and reflect adaptation to the natural environment, the redevelopment of commercial and residential buildings in New York City in the past 50 years reflects renewal and adaptation to the commercial and economic environment of the city. Each process involves a transformation of space, whether it’s the rewilding of land or the reimagining of cityscapes. This portfolio is a reflection of those changes in New York City in the late 20th and early 21st century.
